Method 1: (When Error due to update)

If you getting this error code 0x80070002 after update your windows follow this step will fix your problem.

Step 1: Download “Windows Update Troubleshooter” from here.

Step 2: Install/Run the “Windows Update Troubleshooter” after download.

Step 3: Install Windows Update again.

Step 4: Check whether the problem is fixed.

Same steps is applicable for Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP.

 

Method 2: (Error at Logon)

If you getting this error code 0x80070002 when logon your windows follow this step will fix your problem.

Step 1: Open the registry editor (Start | Run | Type: regedit.exe | Press enter).

Step 2: Expand the left-hand tree panel to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\

Step 3: Ensure the ‘Run’ key is selected on the left and in the right-hand panel locate the ‘MSC’ data value.

Step 4: Right-click the MSC value and click delete.
